What is Hacking? (Part 6) — Skills Required to Be a Real Hacker
Hacking is not about memorizing tools. It is about fundamentals.
A real hacker understands networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and common ports. Linux knowledge is essential, including file systems, processes, permissions, and services.
Programming is another core skill. Python is widely used for automation and scripting. JavaScript is critical for understanding web attacks. Bash scripting helps automate tasks and workflows.
Understanding databases, authentication mechanisms, and basic cryptography is also important. Tools amplify knowledge, but they cannot replace it.
Hacking is applied computer science, not button-clicking.
